UNL Electrical Engineering Professor and Department Chair Jerry Hudgins wants to change this. He recently co-hosted a wind conference that drew over 100 participants from around the world. Last year, he received a $100,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy for UNL to direct the state's Wind For Schools program, which engages rural communities in alternative energy research by installing small-scale wind turbines at rural schools.
